Men’s Health in Werribee
Our GPs at Harpley Doctors in Werribee are familiar with the health concerns men face, and can help you manage heart disease, lung disease, prostate health and cholesterol levels.

Health Support for Men
It is easy to put off a visit to the doctor until something feels wrong, but many common conditions develop quietly for years. High blood pressure and high cholesterol often cause no symptoms at all, which is why regular check-ups matter. Our GPs can help you understand your risks and put a plan in place that suits your age, family history and lifestyle.
What We Can Help With
- Heart health, including blood pressure and cholesterol checks, with your family history taken into account
- Lung disease and ongoing breathing conditions
- Prostate health concerns, including whether prostate testing is right for you
- Diabetes risk checks and blood tests, with onsite pathology
- Skin checks
- Sexual health and STI check-ups
- Stress, low mood and other mental health concerns
If you live with a long-term lung or heart condition, regular reviews help keep your medicines and action plans up to date.
Screening and Check-Ups
The checks you need depend on your age and family history. Eligible Australians aged 45 to 74 can do a free bowel screening test at home every two years through the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. Your GP can also talk with you about heart health and skin checks.
Sexual Health
Sexually transmitted infections often cause no obvious symptoms, so regular testing matters if you are sexually active. Testing may involve a urine test, a blood test or a swab, depending on what is being checked, and your results are kept confidential.
Mental Health Matters Too
Stress, poor sleep, low mood and anxiety affect your physical health as well as your wellbeing. Our GPs offer confidential support and can refer you to a psychologist where needed. If you need to talk to someone right now, Lifeline is available 24 hours a day on 13 11 14.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring an interpreter?
Yes. Tell reception before your visit, and we can request an onsite interpreter in advance or arrange a telephone interpreter.
Should I have a prostate test?
Prostate testing has benefits and limits, so it is worth talking through with your GP. Your doctor will consider your age, any symptoms and your family history.
How do I get a bowel screening kit?
People aged 50 to 74 are mailed a free kit every two years. If you are 45 to 49, you can request your first kit from the program on 1800 627 701, or ask your GP.
How long is an appointment?
Our standard consultations are up to 15 minutes. If you think you may need extra time with a doctor, please let reception know when you book.
Can I have a phone consultation?
Phone consultations are available in some circumstances, but they are not recommended for anything that needs a physical examination. The doctor calls on the day of your booking, at any time during the day, and you need at least one face-to-face consultation with your doctor each year to remain eligible.
