COVID-19 Vaccine in Werribee
Harpley Doctors gives the COVID vaccine in Werribee from our clinic in Harpley Town Centre. Advice changed on 1 October 2026: COVID-19 vaccination is now an annual dose, and it is free under the National Immunisation Program for set groups. Who can get a free COVID vaccine in Werribee
Under the Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine guidance, the vaccine is free for people who have, or are eligible for, a Medicare card and are in one of these groups:
- adults aged 75 and over: two doses a year, about six months apart
- adults aged 65 to 74: one dose a year
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 to 74: one dose a year
- adults aged 18 to 64 with severe immunocompromise: one dose a year
Other adults can talk to their GP about whether a dose suits them. Outside the free groups, a vaccine can be bought privately with a prescription, and that cost is not covered by the program.
Who else should talk to a GP
The Australian Immunisation Handbook says a second dose each year can be considered for adults aged 65 to 74 with medical risk conditions, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults aged 50 to 74 with risk conditions, and adults aged 18 to 64 with severe immunocompromise. Pregnant women can consider a dose from 20 weeks in each pregnancy. Children without risk conditions are not routinely recommended a dose.
If you have recently had COVID-19, there is no set minimum wait, but you may choose to delay vaccination for a few months. Your GP can talk this through with you.
What happens at your appointment
Getting your COVID-19 vaccine takes one short appointment. Your GP checks your health, answers your questions and gives the vaccine. Afterwards you stay at the clinic for at least 15 minutes, as the Australian Immunisation Handbook recommends, and you should not drive during that time. The COVID-19 vaccine can usually be given on the same day as your flu vaccine for anyone aged five and over, which can save a second trip.

To make an appointment, book online or call reception on (03) 8731 1330. We are open seven days, and walk-ins are welcome, although booking ahead means you are not waiting for a gap. New to the clinic? Fill in the new patient form before you come and bring photo ID and your Medicare card.
