What a child development check covers
Your GP looks at your child’s growth, movement, speech, play and behaviour, and talks through anything you have noticed at home. Parents often know first when something seems different, so bring your questions and any notes. A check can be booked at any age, not only at set milestones.

When extra support helps
If a check suggests your child needs more help, your GP can arrange early intervention and referrals. Our Early Intervention page explains how this works.
Vaccines at the same visit
A developmental check is a good time to make sure childhood immunisations are up to date, following the national schedule, including the yearly flu vaccine, free for children aged six months to under five.

To make an appointment, book online or call (03) 8731 1330. We are open seven days. New patients can fill in the new patient form first; bring your child’s Medicare card. If your baby has breathing trouble in winter, read our post on RSV in infants.
