Paediatric Health in Werribee
Our GPs at Harpley Doctors in Werribee care for the youngest members of our community, from birth to young adulthood. This includes childhood immunisations, newborn assessments, and progress and development health checks.

Growing Up Healthy
Children grow and change quickly, and their health needs change with them. Regular visits to a GP help track growth and development, keep vaccinations up to date and pick up small concerns before they become bigger ones. They also help your child get to know their doctor, which can make future visits easier for the whole family.
What We Can Help With
- Newborn assessments, checking your baby’s weight, feeding and general health
- Childhood immunisations
- Growth, weight and development checks
- Common childhood illnesses, such as coughs, colds, fevers, rashes and ear infections
- Asthma and other ongoing conditions
- Advice on nutrition, sleep and behaviour
- Referrals to specialists when needed
Childhood Immunisations
Under the National Immunisation Program schedule, free vaccines are given at birth, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months and 4 years. In Victoria, children must be up to date with their vaccinations to enrol in kindergarten and childcare, under No Jab No Play. Your GP can check your child’s record and arrange any catch-up vaccines.
When to See a GP
Book an appointment if your child has a fever that will not settle, frequent vomiting or diarrhoea, a rash or unusual bruising, or is eating or sleeping very differently from usual. Let us know too if you, a teacher or a carer have concerns about speech, movement or social development.
Seek medical help straight away, or call 000 in an emergency, if your child:
- Is having difficulty breathing
- Is unusually drowsy or hard to wake
- Has blue lips or skin
- Is younger than three months and has a fever
- Shows signs of dehydration, such as far fewer wet nappies
Support Between Visits
Victorian families can also use the free Maternal and Child Health service, which offers 10 key ages and stages visits from birth to three and a half years. Your nurse there and your GP here can both keep an eye on your child’s growth and development.
