Register for MyMedicare with Harpley Doctors

If Harpley Doctors is your regular clinic, you can register for MyMedicare with us. MyMedicare is a free, voluntary scheme that links you to your usual general practice in Werribee and to your preferred GP. Registering does not stop you seeing other practices, and you can change or withdraw at any time. This page explains who can register, the benefits and how to sign up.

What MyMedicare is

According to the Department of Health, MyMedicare is a free, voluntary patient registration that strengthens the link between you, your GP and your practice. It supports continuity of care, so your history is already known when you come in.

Who can register for MyMedicare

You need a Medicare card or DVA Veteran Card and two face-to-face visits with the same practice in the past 24 months. People facing hardship, family violence or homelessness are exempt from the visit requirement. A parent or guardian registers children under 14, and young people aged 14 to 17 can register themselves. You can be registered with only one practice at a time.

Benefits of registering

Registered patients can have longer Medicare-funded telehealth consultations with their GP. Some care is now linked to the practice where you are registered, including GP chronic condition management plans and mental health treatment plans, so it helps to register for MyMedicare with the practice you actually use. Many patients register for MyMedicare after a couple of visits, once they have chosen their regular GP.

How to register for MyMedicare

You can register online with Services Australia through your Medicare online account in the myGov app, or ask our reception team to start it for you at the clinic. Our Patient Info and Fees page has a MyMedicare section and a QR code.

Choosing your regular GP

Meet our doctors to choose the GP who suits you. Book online or call (03) 8731 1330; all consultations are bulk billed. New patients can fill in the new patient form first, and our Harpley Medical Practice page explains how appointments work. Regular health checks and health assessments are easier to keep up with one practice.
