Care for Active People

Sport and exercise are good for your health, but injuries happen. From competitive sport to a weekend run, our GPs can help you recover and return to activity safely. Getting an injury checked early helps you understand how serious it is and avoid making it worse.

Injuries and Conditions We See

  • Sprains and strains
  • Overuse injuries, such as tennis elbow
  • Soccer and other contact sport injuries
  • Joint, back and muscle pain
  • Minor cuts and grazes
  • Suspected uncomplicated fractures

How We Can Help

Your GP will ask how the injury happened, examine the area and check how it is affecting your movement. If needed, we can refer you for X-rays or other imaging, or to a specialist. We can also help you manage pain, plan a gradual return to training and look at ways to reduce the chance of the injury coming back.

Ongoing and Recurring Problems

Some sports injuries take time to settle or keep returning. If your pain has lasted more than three months, our pain management service can help.

Returning to Sport

Going back too soon is a common reason injuries come back. Your GP can help you set a gradual plan, increasing training step by step while watching for pain or swelling.

Anyone with a suspected concussion should stop playing straight away, must not return to sport the same day, and should see a doctor before returning.

When to Seek Urgent Care
